We will start saving dogs in the next month or so and we wont be able to save them unless we have temporary homes for them to go to. Each dog that we take in will be evaluated for temperament by a vet so that we will be able to make appropriate matches of dogs to homes. As a foster home you would be able to get to know your foster dog, send updates and pictures to be posted on petfinder, evaluate the likes, wants and needs of your foster so that we can match him/her to the right adoptive family. This method provides a very high success rate for adoptions of rescue dogs into new homes since the rescue works closely with each foster home to be sure the dog makes the perfect match. The foster home gets to review the appropriate adoption applications. BURN relies heavily on the opinions of the foster homes when deciding on the adoptive home for each dog. This can be a truly fulfilling opportunity and will be tremendous Karma!
We will be taking all bully breeds, not just pit-bulls. Boxers, Boston Terriers, bulldogs, Mixes etc. are all in high need of homes.
Please email if you would like to be considered for a foster home. burnetwork.info@gmail.com

I laughed with delight at the ad campaign when I spotted it yesterday. Not my style, but totally get what he was going for, and thought there were some interesting fashion ideas that I wouldn't expect from this line. The campaign (some images more than others) remind me of Kate Spade ad campaigns of past. Remember the one with the preppy NYC girl visited by her preppy family? This feels similar but a bit off. Though I did post the intro image with the jeep full of stuff on my wall. Thanks for sharing!

A constant conversation I have with some, by no means all, of my European colleagues is to argue to them: don’t apply rules to the Government of Israel that you would never dream of applying to your own country. In any of our nations, if there were people firing rockets, committing acts of terrorism and living next door to us, our public opinion would go crazy. And any political leader who took the line that we shouldn’t get too excited about it, wouldn’t last long as a political leader. This is a democracy.

I read an interesting theory recently linking the decline in teacher quality (and in numbers of nursing students) over the past decades to the increasing acceptance of women in management roles in other professions. As the theory goes - a generation ago, there simply weren't as many career options available to even the highest achieving women, so the overall pool of candidate teachers and nurses was much stronger. Now many brilliant women who might have been excellent teachers or nurses are instead becoming physicians, CEOs, or politicians.

Well, Jimbino, I'm sure you must be right about much of this, including my myopia. For while I've little doubt that as a country we're very many of these -ists that you enumerate, I've quite lost sight of what any of it has to do with the merits of what I'm actually proposing.
I think that you might have lost sight of something too, however. For if you look back to what I wrote, you'll note that I did not endorse the ownership/stakeholding link (though I do think it bears sufficient prima facie plausbility to warrant empirical investigation of the sort that folk at the Wash U. Social Welfare dept like Michael Sherraden do a lot of), but simply cited it as an oft-heard rationale that can rationalize more than some right-wing users of it seem to appreciate.

Nike realized they were on to something with people like me and Ian and Bradley after the release of those red-and-black http://www.inrunningshoes.com Jordan’s nearly 30 years ago, and since then they’ve produced and we’ve consumed, and in the Pac-Man culture that is buy more and feel better, we got high. We fell for http://www.inrunningshoes.com/nike-free-30_c10 the idea that these shoes were something more than devices to keep our socks from getting dirty.
